Asian Inspired
Akai Into was born out of the collaboration between two designers: Catarina Monteiro and Bernardo Oliveira. Inspired by their love of Japanese culture, they chose as a starting point for their brand the Japanese legend of the red thread ( Akai = red, Ito = thread ) which unites the destiny of two people regardless of time or distance.
Zero Waste
With the desire to move away from conventional pattern-making methods and believing that the future lies in reducing waste rather than recycling, given that many fabrics are not compatible with the latter, Akai Ito firmly applies the Zero Waste concept to their creations.
Again, inspired by Japanese culture, reflecting the expression “mottainai” (nothing goes to waste), the brand invests in molds with less waste and the use of 100% recyclable materials of only one fabric.
Crafted with care
Akai Ito focuses their craft on techniques such as Japanese Sashiko embroidery, manual dyeing through Ice Dye and Shibori, amongst others, making unique pieces as organic as possible without ever losing sight of the brand's values and with the intent to make that personal connection with its customers forming that bond that is the Akai Ito only to be enriched with future wear.
